have been loosing sleep over what decision to make and looking for thoughts. My situation:
Basics 1. I'm 40 years old, single, no dependents and have always wanted to go to law school. I regret never going. 2. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination rich by I can finance it on my own and it will significantly reduce my savings, but I'm ok with that. l will have to work part-time at my home based business while going. 3. I assume should I graduate in my early forties that I'll encounter some age discrimination; in that my willingness to bill 2k hours at a big firm would be questioned. I think that is legitimate. I want the JD degree as a goal and do not see myself taking a traditional path post JD degree anyway. I've set my own schedule for too long for that. I look at this as an adventure. Dilemma 1. I live in San Diego and would like to move to the bay area to go to Santa Clara or USF and have the LSAT score to get in based on the LSAC model, but applied too late and can not get in this Fall 09. I would have to wait - another year - and I've waited quite a while already at 40. So I don't like that. 2. I can go to either Thomas Jefferson or Cal Western here in the fall but both are T4 schools - which I would happily attend if I did not have other options, but I do. But I don't want to wait. Options 1. Take the quickest path and stay in San Diego, attend a T4 school and be happy with that. 2. Go to a San Diego school for a year and transfer out after a year to a different school (I assume loose credits, time and $ in the process). 3. Wait a full year and a half, which I'm really impatient about doing. Anyhow, if anyone has any thoughts - I'd be happy to hear them as I literally wake up with a different decision each day, which means I don't know what to do. Thanks |
